Grading: Class Attendance 20% Class Participation 30% Foods Aide Journal 10% Independent Project 40% ATTENDANCE: Coming to class every class on time gives you an automatic 100% for class attendance. If you are absent or tardy, school policy applies which includes a deduction of 3 points per unexcused absence as well as a 2 point deduction per tardy. After 5 absences you will receive no higher than 50% for an attendance grade. PARTICIPATION: Since being a Foods Aide is a special privilege, it is crucial that every class work is accomplished. Most work will be done independently and will require initiative to stay on task, and seek extra projects to do while class is in session. Failure to participate, or demonstrate appropriate behavior and attitude will result in termination of Foods Aide position. JOURNAL: For most of the classes as a food aide you will be working on individual projects or tasks. You are required to document in a journal every class period what tasks were accomplished and how long each task took. At the end of the semester you are required to turn in your completed journal. Journal will be graded on neatness and accuracy. INDEPENDENT PROJECT: You are to study in detail a culinary or nutrition related topic and present to your class a 15 minute minimum presentation/demonstration.
